The proper form when using a jogging stroller:

One of the usual reasons for a mother to purchase a jogging stroller would be to be able to easily get in shape right after their pregnancy. They would want to be able to fit in exercise with having to take care of their children.

Most parents would think that using a jogging stroller is easy. They would just assume their usual running stances while pushing the carriage with their child in it. Unfortunately, this is not the proper form to take when running with a jogging stroller.

Of course being able to get into shape would be difficult if you are not doing the proper exercise. Worse, you run the risk of injuring yourself if you would keep on doing the wrong movements while you are doing your training sessions. That is why it is important to follow a proper form when using the jogging stroller for your exercise.

The proper form to take when running with a jogging stroller would be separated into these parts:

Stride length:

You should adjust your usual strides to match having a jogging stroller in front of you. You should realize that you can’t go full bore as you previously did as you run the risk of tripping over when you hit your jogging stroller.

Body position:

You should keep a straight back and lead with your chest while you are running. You would be able to do this easily since your hands would not be swinging but rather is holding on to the jogging stroller’s handles.

This position would ensure that you would not add unnecessary stress and strain to you your back.

Handles:

Speaking of handles, you should adjust the handles of the jogging stroller according to your body as well. You should try to ensure that the handles are at your waist level so you would be able to push the jogging stroller without having to lean forward or elevate your arms too much.

For additional safety, you should also use the safety tether that is usually included with jogging stroller. Simply attach it to your wrist so that the stroller would not be able to get away from your control.

Lastly, you should ensure that the hand brakes (usually built into the handles of the strollers) are easily accessible by either of your hands. This would ensure that you would be able to safely slow down during times when you would have to maneuver your jogging stroller well.

By following the proper form, you would be able to exercise and regain your shape without endangering your child or developing bad conditions on your body.
