Adjustments to make when running with a jogging stroller:

For physically active people, running or jogging is usually a part of their training routine. When they have kids, they could purchase a jogging stroller so that they would be able to continue their regimen without having to sacrifice their bonding time with their children. A jogging stroller would allow parents to continue doing their jogging or runs while taking their children with them. They would just put their child in the stroller, and then go on their usual routes.

Of course, there are some things would have to be adjusted now that you have a jogging stroller along with you for the ride. The additional weight, bulk, and space occupied by the carriage that you are carrying would make it highly difficult for you to just assume your usual running positions. As such, the onus is on you to make the necessary adjustments so that it would be a comfortable stroll for you and your child.

Some of the adjustments that you would have to make once you run with a jogging stroller would include:

Adjusting Stride Length:

For runners without carrying a jogging stroller, they would usually make long strides while they are running. The strides would enable them to cover ground faster and without having to exert too much effort. Of course, you would not be able to push off and create a longer stride if there is a stroller in right in front of you.

You must make up for this fact, by having shorter strides so that you would not hit or kick the jogging stroller by accident.

Lesser to no arm swinging movements:

When people run, they would usually swing their arms in conjunction with their strides. Of course, this would be a bit hard to do now that you would have to hold on to a jogging stroller.  When using a jogging stroller, you always need to have a hand (or both hands on the handle).

Because of this, you may be tempted to just push off the jogging stroller and try to catch up to it while you run. This is something that you must never do! This is a very dangerous situation which could lead to various injuries for you and the child inside the stroller because you would lack the control necessary for maneuvering it properly.

Turning:

Another adjustment that you would have to make when you run while using a jogging stroller is with turning. Maneuverability becomes an issue as it is not as easy to turn a jogging stroller especially if you locked the front swivel wheel (a must for running faster paces).

You may want to adjust your routes to have lesser turns or to exert much more effort if you have to make a right or left.

You may think that this is such a hassle but doing these adjustments while running with a jogging stroller would make a better running experience for you and your child.
