When parents, especially the first timers, hear about jogging strollers, many become quite excited. They are amazed that they would be able to combine bonding time with their children, allowing their kids to do some sightseeing, as well as do some exercise!
However, not everyone knows how they would actually go about purchasing their jogging strollers. They do not understand the intricacies needed to be able to finally purchase a stroller that would fully suit their needs. This is because the jogging strollers have their own set of features and idiosyncrasies that set it apart from a regular baby stroller.
To help parents, here is a short, step by step guide for purchasing a jogging stroller:
Check your baby’s size first!
Some parents get to enamored with the design and all the other bells and whistles of a jogging stroller that they forget its primary purpose, which is carrying your children. Even before you leave the house to go to the store, you should already check the size of your baby. It would even be better if you brought your kid along to actually test if they fit.
This is because your child should be able to comfortably sit in the jogging stroller in order for it to work. Remember that safety features found on the stroller are set for a child that is a good fit for it.
Study your home’s setup:
The next thing that you should do even before leaving the house is to study your setup. Studying the layout should include the size of your doorways as well as how much storage area you have available.
Studying these two things is important because jogging strollers tend to be a bit wider and bulkier than their regular stroller counterparts. This means that you run the risk of the stroller not being able to fit in your home if you did not check just how wide your doorways and hallways are.
The same is true for the storage area. You may not be able to store your stroller properly if you purchase one that is too big for your storage area in the garage or wherever else.
Check the neighborhood where you will use the stroller:
After that, you should probably check the places where you would be using the stroller. Two things two check for are the width of the hallways and the smoothness of the terrain.
The width of the hallways is done for the same reasons that you would check the doors and hallways inside your home.
On the other hand, checking the smoothness of the terrain where you would be using the jogging stroller would let you know what type you would need. You would be able to know if you need one of those ironman stroller types that can last through rough terrain or if you can make do with those smooth and lighter jogging strollers.
Now that you have a step by step guide for purchasing a jogging stroller, you are well on your way in getting a stroller that would suit you and your baby.
