Unique Features of Jogging Strollers

Strollers used to be an easy thing to describe. Previously, once you mention a stroller, people would immediately know that you are simply talking about a carriage for a child that has wheels. They know that this is what you would usually use to transport your children from one location to another.

Now that times are changing even the strollers are changing too! Nowadays, you would be able to find that there are now plenty of variations in the strollers. One of these innovations is the jogging stroller. A jogging stroller, as what is implied by the name, can be used for jogging while your children are still inside the carriage.

You may ask, what makes a jogging stroller unique? What are the features that would set it apart from the normal or traditional strollers that are available in the market? To answer these questions, here are the difference in features between jogging strollers and traditional strollers.

Different wheel set up:

Perhaps one of the more obvious things that would differentiate a jogging stroller from a regular or traditional baby stroller is the set up of the wheels. In the traditional stroller, you would usually be able to find a set of 4 wheels, one on each corner. In the Jogging stroller, the wheel setup is reduced by one and you would be able to find one front wheel and two rear wheels.

The jogging stroller has this setup, in order to maintain stability but still provide you with a stroller that can maneuver easily while jogging.

Made with more durable materials:

With traditional strollers, you are more prone to see those that are manufactured with soft plastic, or even some cloth like materials. This is of course done to make the stroller lighter and a bit more comfortable for the children.

In jogging stroller however, the construction is geared more towards safety and durability. The manufacturers would be more concerned toward making this kind of stroller tough enough to withstand rough terrain and strong enough to protect the child in case an untoward incident happens while jogging with this stroller.

Loaded with more safety features:

This does not mean that a traditional stroller does not have safety features. It just means that the jogging stroller is packed with more features that are for the child’s safety. Of course, this is because a traditional stroller is usually used for a leisurely stroll which has fewer chances of accidents, while the jogging stroller is built for people who want to increase the pace.

Samples of safety features found in jogging strollers include 3 or 5 point harnesses, hand breaks, foot breaks and even safety tethers. You can even consider the added shock absorption feature of jogging strollers to be a part of the safety and comfort feature that makes it different from normal baby strollers.

By seeing these differences between a jogging stroller and a traditional stroller, you would now be able to make a better decision as to which one of them would better suit your needs.
