The Role of Wheel Size in Jogging Strollers

When people purchase something, they would usually study the specifications and other pertinent information regarding that item. This kind of mindset is the same for parents who are purchasing jogging strollers for their children. They scour the internet for reviews in order to know more about which stroller would be the best purchase.

One of the things that usually pop up when parents look at the information about jogging strollers are the wheel sizes. They can see a lot of figures that detail how wide the wheels are. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to understand how a certain wheel size would be able to help or hinder them in their quest for the jogging stroller that would match their needs.

So what are the wheel sizes for? How do they affect how the stroller works? These questions are usually asked by people who see the data about wheel sizes. This is a guide for people to know more about how the wheel sizes can help them determine if the jogging stroller meets their needs.

The first thing you should know is that there are three common sizes for jogging strollers. They are the 20”, 18” and 12”. Next, you should also know that there are usually differences between the size of the front wheel and the rear wheels.

Here is a more detailed review of the different sizes:

20” wheels:

The 20” wheels are usually the largest. These large wheels in the jogging stroller enable it to pass through difficult terrain. It is able to go through routes that are unpaved or are made of soft or grainy material such as sand or mud.

A drawback though is that 20” wheels are difficult to store. Another would be that if you are living in the city you would not necessarily need off-road tires.

18” wheels:

Similar to 20” wheels, the 18” wheels in jogging strollers are also great for off road use. They can be stable and comfortable even in rough terrain but perhaps not as stable as if you had used the bigger wheels 20” wheels.

The advantage of an 18” wheel over the 20” would probably lie in the fact that they are a bit easier to store in car trunks. They would be great for jogging with your baby on a track in the park or on a prepared track with fewer bumps and obstacles.

12” wheels:

Usually the smallest sized wheels for the jogging strollers are the 12" wheels. These strollers are great for paved roads or the flooring used indoors. They are able to easily traverse malls, streets, or even inside your own home.

The good thing with these is that they are able to be easily stored in the back of your trunk. However, if you are planning to go through a tougher terrain, you may find that it provides inadequate stability.

Hopefully, discussing the three different wheel sizes would help you in deciding which one of them is the best for your jogging stroller needs.
