Jogging Stroller Harness Reviews

When you think about it, placing your child in a jogging stroller is entrusting your most precious loved one inside a moving object. That’s why it is very important for jogging strollers to have many features that can ensure the comfort and the safety of your children.

Fortunately, the various manufacturers of jogging strollers such as Jeep, Baby Jogger, and even Instep understand this major concern of their clients. That’s why they have loaded the strollers with various features to help make their products a trustworthy companion when you are taking care of your baby.

However, people may not fully understand what these features mean or how these can help I providing additional comfort or safety to their babies. Without understanding these features, they may not be able to fully utilize the extra help that jogging strollers provide them.

The Harness Closure System

One of the most overlooked features that most modern jogging strollers have is the harness. Many parents think that the harness is just a simple strap to keep their baby in place.

They do not understand that there are many consideration and tests done on the configuration of these straps just to ensure that they are able to maximize the combination of comfort and safety of the child in the stroller.  A harness can actually be considered as important as the seatbelt on a car!

This is seen in the fact that there are different kinds of harness systems that are used on jogging strollers. The two most common of these are the 3 point system and the 5 point system.

3 point harness closure system:

The 3 point harness system is one of the ways that safety straps can be used to secure the babies in the stroller. A three-point harness has two straps that come together over a child’s hips or stomach, and a third strap that comes up between the child’s legs.

The advantage of the 3 point harness system is that it is able to secure your child while utilizing only a few straps. This is very ideal for restless children who do not like the constricting feeling of having lots of cords attached to their body.

It is also ideal for children with sensitive skin who may have allergic reactions to prolonged strap use.

5 point Harness closure system:

There is also a more advanced version of the 3 point harness called the 5 point harness system.

As one may surmise from the name, on the 5 point harness system, there are an additional two more straps as compared with the 3 point harness. In addition to the straps in the hip or stomach area and the strap between the legs, the 5 point harness also has two straps that go over the child’s shoulder and locks into place over the child’s stomach.

This setup is quite similar to those used by drivers of professional race cars.

In this kind of harness system, the child is more secure and has less leeway to topple over or out of the jogging stroller. This is great for parents who have children who are very restless and need to be restrained more, as well as, for going in places where the terrain is not as smooth as paved walkways.

Knowing which system of harness that you would want is important in picking a jogging stroller. You must be able to know which suits your lifestyle and your child’s personality and pick one that matches both.

Remember that there must always be a balance between the comfort and the safety of the child that you place in your jogging strollers!
